Does this Elegant Space belong to a Royal Palace?
Surprises happen when you least expect them, don't they? Although these spurs of the moment could occur at random with possibly anything under the sun, the realm of architecture also has clever ways of catching us off guard.
Like cunning people, interior environments could probably possess the ability to deceive us too. And this couldn't be more true while I was checking out a brand new mall in town.
You see, I'm the type of human being who loves to explore novel habitats, especially if they arouse my itching curiosity. So when news arrived that a world-class hospitality, commercial, and entertainment complex was opening for business, I simply couldn't wait.
After hours of walking around their shopping mall integrated within their establishment and dining in one of their posh restaurants, I had to answer the call of nature.
“Hey, I need to use the restroom - excuse me for a while.”
“Sure, we’ll wait for you at the casino entrance.” My companions said.
So off I went searching for their public toilet. And as soon as I reached the door, this was what I saw.
“Oops, am I dreaming? Am I in the right place? Did I just pass through a time portal to another continent?” I thought.
Lo and behold, there I was standing still at the doorway with my eyes wide-opened and jaw dropped, wondering what just happened. A couple of minutes went by until other people came inside. Sure enough, it was indeed their public toilet.
However, it was unlike any other restroom I've seen within the city. The last time I saw a room as lavish as this one was inside the elite hotels of Europe and the extravagant interiors of Sheikh’s royal palaces in the United Arab Emirates. Thus, I had to pinch myself a few times to confirm if it was real. It was an unbelievable encounter!
Contrary to other public toilets that were typically designed with white finishes or light-colored themes, this sophisticated restroom displayed a luxuriously dusky appearance. Expensive building materials were obviously installed.
Black marble floors. Brown mosaic patterns. Golden accents. Chocolate vertical wooden surfaces. Grainy textured and silver trimmed walls. Embedded mirror panels. Golden edgings. Dark beige marble walls. Natural stone veins. Golden metal doorway linings. Light beige ceiling surfaces. Cove lighting. Warm downlights. Artistic wall sconces. Light-toned countertops. Fancy golden framed mirrors. Designer water basins and faucets. Wooden undercounter sidings.
I could go on forever. But you get the idea. Absolutely gorgeous!
Even the white urinals with motion-activated sensors had special vertical barriers cladded in classy wood panels against light beige wall backdrops.
As I explored deeper into this exquisite restroom, I just couldn't take my eyes off the royal blue wooden partitions that subdivided the water closet cubicles. Not sure why, but this hue of blue seems to evoke a sense of calmness plus the feeling of freshness. Perhaps this specific theme was done on purpose to relax the occupant prior to doing their thing.
Nevertheless, this striking blue tone glowed with an interesting contrast from the yellowish, golden, and beige colors of its immediate surroundings, leading to its vibrant yet classy aesthetic. In other words, although the entire public toilet slapped me as a pleasant surprise, it turned out to be one of the best hallmarks of interior architecture fit for a king. What an interesting experience!
Like me, were you almost tricked into believing that this elegant space was part of a royal palace?
